Clay Portraiture

Gillian Taylor

Gillian teaches our Clay Portraiture class, this will be held on the first floor Granary.

  • on a Tuesday morning  from 10 am – 12 am
  • and Tuesday evening from 7 pm – 9 pm

The fee for this class includes £20 for the firing of your work.  Clay will be available to purchase at the beginning of the course from the Treasurer.   All tools and equipment are provided along with the clay and materials needed to complete and fire your class work.  Additional clay and firing can be arranged with the tutor.

While every effort is made to provide facilities for the class that will allow the students to work on their sculpture during the term, and to have this fired, the student undertakes this at their own risk.  The committee and the tutors, however, do their best to help the students to achieve a satisfactory result from their work but firing in a kiln is uncertain and so not all the work is completed without damage.  Adequate shelving is provided for the safe storage of work but as this is a relatively busy shared space,   PACC cannot be held responsible for any accidental damage to student’s pieces of work.

Gillian Taylor. Trained sculptor from Edinburgh College of Art with a MSc in Forensic Art (Human Facial Anatomy). I mostly work in clay, creating portraits in detail and in various styles. My detailed understanding of facial anatomy has allowed me to improve the accuracy and details of my portraits, whether in pencil or in clay.
