Plaster Carving 2018 / 19

Plaster Carving with Fiona Maher

Monday 10 – 12 noon

Ground Floor Granary Building

Students will be guided through the process of casting a block of plaster and then the techniques for carving and finishing This course will begin with an introductory carving session on a small precast block of plaster.  Students will then be encouraged to make a small maquette snd series of sketches in preparation for making a larger piece .

Finishing techniques will include the application of colour , sealing and how to present your work.

Fiona runs classes in Print Making on a Wednesday and Thursday each week and has hosted many print making events in Haddington.

She has been sculpting for over 15 years working in a variety of materials including stone and plaster.
She has exhibited regularly at the annual SSA and RSA exhibitions, twice at Caol Ruadh Scottish Sculpture park and has carried out commissions for private customers .

And the award for best work by a woman sculptor ( RSA ) 2012
